As you learn more about me I hope to convey my love of learning and my passion for equipping children with the tools they need to reach their full potential. I understand first-hand the value of knowledge and the limitless potential of a person committed to being a life-long learner. This is what I hope to instill in my students.
My goal as a teacher is not to merely teach specified content; instead, I hope to engage and inspire my students in such a manner that they are able to experience the joy of learning. I believe there are several key features that need to be present to achieve this. Children must be engaged through high interest lessons and working in an environment that is collaborative and safe. They need to feel a sense of ownership over their learning by being offered developmentally appropriate choices within the curriculum. These choices must be challenging, while remaining developmentally appropriate. This is achieved only through constructive and efficient evaluation that reveals individualized student needs. I believe these special elements lend themselves to creating opportunities for children to experience the joy of learning.
My educational journey allowed me to experience the joy of learning and I hope to give this to my students. After graduating from law school, I worked as an attorney for several years and held many jobs prior, yet no opportunity gave me the satisfaction and reward I feel when working with children and seeing them develop a love of learning. I love the challenge of finding creative and fun ways to inspire and motive my class. I am certain teaching is the perfect fit for me and am excited about learning and growing alongside my class this year!
